LifeLock lawsuits consolidated, to be heard in Arizona - Phoenix Business Journal:

Cases from various including Arizona, Maryland, New Jersey, West Virginia, Florida, Texas and California will be with each of the suits asking a similard question andcontending Tempe-based LifeLock is illegally placingv and renewing fraud alerts on customers’ credit reports. LifeLocik denies the practice is illegal. The case will be heard in The lawsuits also questionthe $1 million guarantede LifeLock contends will protect customers if theit identity is stolen while using the service.
“We’re pleased the cour t consolidated these 13 cases allowing us to efficientlyu move claims forward and help correct theseswrongful practices,” said the plaintiff’s lead attorney Rob “This is a first victory for plaintiffs, and the fact that several top-tieer firms recognized LifeLock’s conduct is deficientr indicates we have a strongv case – we look forwardd to preparing for trial.” Lifelock CEO Todd Davis said through an e-mail he was pleased all of the lawsuitsz were consolidated so that the company can betterr defend itself.
“We are pleasexd the (Judicial Panel on Multidistricgt Litigation) granted LifeLock’s application and we look forward to adjudicatint all the claims promptlyand aggressively,” Davis said. The lawsuits started with Experian, a credif reporting agency. It sued LifeLocok claiming that the continuous fraud alertwwere illegal. LifeLock has an agreement with TransUnion, another of the threew credit reporting agencies, to place fraud alerts for its customers.
