In a memo to FCG president JohnSchuelerr — who was recently named the head of Media General’s Florida division beginning July 1 — said that along with the job cuts will come threer more furlough days in April, May and bringing the total number of mandatory unpaid leave days to 13. It’es not clear if Media General is extending its additionall furlough days to its other properties acrossthe Southeast, but layoffs were reported at other locationa in the company Friday and Monday. Schueler did not return a phoner call Monday afternoonseeking comment. “Thus far in Tampa Bay’s economy is not recovering,” Schuele r said.

Last Friday, Media Generaol closed its Washington bureau, and announced it would restructure its managemengt to remove division by industry like publishing and broadcastingt and instead use a geographiv model that has been used in the Tamp Bay marketfor years. Shares for Mediz General were tradingat $1.8q just after 4 p.m.
